Building a Spin Scrubber Accessory Programme Around One Motor Platform

How a UK home and kitchen brand built a scrubber range on one motor platform: G002 and G017 bodies, IPX7 claims backed by reports, priced kit.

Result in one paragraph

A UK home and kitchen brand wanted a scrubber range without paying for multiple motor platforms. Youwang built the range on two bodies — the IPX7 long-pole G002 and the compact IPX7 G017 — with accessory kits configured per SKU, and the "submersible" claim backed by per-model IPX7 immersion reports instead of box copy.

The starting condition

The brand's range plan had six SKUs but a budget that only supported one or two motor developments. Accessory-driven differentiation — brush heads, extension poles, IP ratings — had to carry the range instead.

Constraints

SKUs planned6 (two bodies, multiple accessory kits)
Water claim"Submersible" — requires IPX7 evidence
MarketUnited Kingdom
Price pointEXW USD 10–21 per unit by SKU
MOQ504–1,000 units per model

Measured results

Motor platforms developed
6 (one per SKU, as originally scoped) 2
Four SKUs created through accessory kit configuration instead of new toolings.
Water-resistance claims
Generic "waterproof" copy Per-model IPX7 with immersion reports; splash models correctly labelled
Claim discipline is what protects review scores and listing status.
Freight document acceptance
Repeated forwarder queries Per-configuration UN38.3 and MSDS files accepted first time
Transport files are requested by pack configuration, not by product name.

What we changed, and why

  1. Two bodies, four accessory kits The range was built on the G002 long-pole body and the G017 compact body, both IPX7, with four accessory kit configurations creating the six SKUs. The accessory kit, not the motor, was priced line by line — kit contents drive cost more than the powertrain in this category.
  2. IPX7 evidence per model The "submersible" claim was matched to the G002 and G017 immersion reports (IPX7, 1 m / 30 minutes). Splash-rated models in the range were copy-checked so no SKU inherited a claim its rating could not support.
  3. Battery documentation for freight Each pack configuration carried UN38.3, MSDS, drop and stacking files, so the UK-bound shipments cleared forwarder checks on the first submission rather than after a customs hold.

“They stopped us from writing "waterproof" on the two SKUs that are only splash-rated. That one edit probably saved the whole range.”

Where this approach stops working

The scrubber platforms are rechargeable battery tools; we do not build corded mains-voltage scrubbers or commercial floor-machine brush systems. UL documentation in this category is a test report, not a UL certification, and we state it that way in every file pack.
